Council provides a variety of commercial waste services, including the collection of 240L bins and 1100L tubs. Bins may also be available for events.

FOGO Business Mandate

From 1 July 2026 NSW EPA is introducing Business Food Waste Mandates

The NSW EPA is introducing FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) mandates. The mandate requires larger businesses that sell or handle food to source separate their food waste. Your business can save costs on waste disposal to landfill, improve business operations, reduce carbon footprint and divert food waste for beneficial reuse. Separating food waste from general waste is good for your business.

It initially applies to larger businesses like supermarkets, hospitals, institutions, clubs and hotels from 1 July 2026 and will progressively include smaller businesses and institutions. Check if your business needs to comply by using the NSW EPA FOGO business mandate calculator.

Certain business in rural areas may be exempted until 1 July 2028 where the council currently does not provide FOGO or FO collection services. For further information visit Exemptions from the FOGO mandates | EPA.

Solutions to better manage your food waste:

• Access useful resources, staff training videos and sector toolkits.
• Search Planet Ark's Recycling Near You for collection services in your area.
• Use the free Bin Trim app to complete a waste assessment of your site and take steps to reduce the amount of garbage you generate.
• Apply for a Bin Trim Equipment Rebate for rebates up to $50,000 for equipment and technology that avoids or reduces waste. Check your eligibility.
