Nominations open for Goulburn Mulwaree Award

The Goulburn Mulwaree Award working party has been formed, and are now calling for nominations for the inaugural induction, which will coincide with Goulburn’s birthday celebrations in March 2022.

This local award is designed to recognise outstanding service or meritorious achievement by individuals to the community of the Goulburn Mulwaree Local Government area.

Danae Vitnell, chairperson of the Goulburn Mulwaree Award Working Party, encouraged the community to submit nominations.

“The goal of this award is to recognise those citizens who have gone over and above in volunteering or community service, with outstanding efforts or achievement over a long period of time.”

“We see that the Goulburn Mulwaree Award is our local version of the Order of Australia. The Australia Day awards recognise service or achievements in a particular year, whereas the Goulburn Mulwaree Award looks beyond the previous 12 months and seeks to recognise continuous involvement/efforts or meritorious service over an extended period.”

“The working party expect that we will receive a number of nominations in our first year, and we hope to consider these and recognise our first recipients on the 14th March 2022 as part of Goulburn’s birthday.”

Nominations are assessed by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor as well five independent community representatives, who were recently appointed by Council being Danae Vitnell, Richard Ernst, Gary Lourigan, Jodie Divall and Sam Rowland.
