Councillor Peter Walker has been elected Mayor of Goulburn Mulwaree Council for the first time.

Cr Peter Walker was re-elected to Goulburn Mulwaree Council for a second term in 2021. First elected in 2016, Peter has served as Deputy Mayor since 2018, and will hold the role of Mayor for the first time.

Councillors then rescinded a motion to elect a Deputy Mayor, and chose to move in a new direction where there will be no Deputy Mayor of Goulburn Mulwaree for this term, being until September 2023.

Council will share the duties of the Deputy Mayor between the remaining eight Councillors, depending on skill set, experience and the situation. This will be discussed in detail at a future briefing of Council.

Cr Peter Walker will lead a team of nine councillors as Mayor, five of which were elected for the first time in December. The first meeting covering general business of Council will be held on Tuesday 1st February.
