Mental Health Month

World Mental Health Day is held on Monday 10th October 2022, with October being National Mental Health Month.

This year’s World Mental Health Day campaign is encouraging everyone to make a promise to “Look after your mental health, Australia.”

The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

I encourage you all to reach out to your loved ones who may need support, but most importantly to look after yourself.

Help is available so reach out to one of the many support services available, below are just a very select few.

Kids Helpline: 1800 551 800

New Adults Groups at the Goulburn Mulwaree Library

The Library has some exciting new things planned for adults in October.

On Monday mornings from 10am-12pm enjoy a friendly game of Scrabble, at Scrabble Club. All experience levels welcome, from beginners to experts, and morning tea will be provided.

On Wednesdays at 1pm the Library will host Lunchtime Language Learning sessions. From October-December they will be trying their hand at beginner Spanish using their Mango Languages platform. The mago’s language-learning methodology helps give the confidence to go down a road less travelled. Join the team to practice conversation and pick up some new skills in a small friendly group.

Both programs are free and don't require any bookings, just pop into the Library and join in!

GPAC Update

The Goulburn Performing Art Centre (GPAC) has a plethora of events lined up this October and I encourage you to visit their website for the full list, it is always difficult to choose just one that might be of interest! This week I will choose something a little different - the NSW Police Band.

The New South Wales Police Band is regarded as the State Band of NSW.

Formed in 1895, the NSW Police Force proudly boasts the country’s oldest concert band. It is a full-time unit of the NSW Police Force comprising of 32 players, providing musical support to NSW State Government and Police events.

The Band recently celebrated their 125th anniversary during 2020.

The band will be on stage at 11am Wednesday 12 October 2022 and tickets start a $20.
