Double Demerits
Double demerit points began on Thursday 1st April, and continue through until midnight on Monday 5th April. Over this Easter weekend, NSW Police will target speeding, mobile phone use, seatbelt and motorcycle helmet offences.
Goulburn Mulwaree Council, in partnership with the Hume Local Police District, urge motorists to drive responsibly over the Easter and ANZAC holiday periods. Please allow yourself extra time to take breaks when driving long distances. I hope you have a lovely Easter weekend with friends and family.
First sod turned at Hockey Facility
The first sod has been turned at Goulburn’s home of hockey, with work on the redevelopment of the complex to get underway in April.
Special thanks must go to Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman and the NSW Government for providing Council with a grant via the Restart NSW Fund for a total of $3,872,000. The project total cost is $7,081,000 with $3,009,000 being contributed by Goulburn Mulwaree Council and $200,000 being contributed Goulburn District Hockey Association.
Council will be developing a new water based field which will be developed to world class standard. New lights will be installed as well as an upgrade and expanded amenities. The new amenities will cater for women athletes which has certainly been a demand for many years.
The total upgraded facility will now make Goulburn one of the most sought after venues for Hockey in NSW. The Goulburn Region Hockey community, including Crookwell, deserve these high class facilities, and once we have completed the upgrade we will look forward to welcoming some of the best teams in Australia here to Goulburn. Couple this with the great indoor venue at the Veolia Arena – Goulburn will be renowned for hosting national hockey events at these facilities.
Range Road widening and upgrades complete

Council partners with right to work
Goulburn Mulwaree Council has partnered with the local organisation Right to Work, and is helping empower young adults with intellectual disabilities by offering opportunities in the workplace.
The program is dedicated to growing skills and continued learning after school years have been completed, helping learners to experience independence, workplace success and community inclusion.
Opportunities are being offered to participants in the Goulburn Mulwaree Library, the workshop, parks & gardens and the Visitor Information Centre. Council’s Human Resources team have undertaken a significant amount of work to link Right to Work with different departments for opportunities.
It is wonderful to see the organisation responding to a need to offer better opportunities to young people with disability.
Many of these young adults have never had opportunities to undertake work experience, so it’s great to be able to do this through Council where do such a wide variety of different work!
