At the February General Meeting, Council resolved to continue its fight against cost shifting onto Local Government.

Mayor Peter Walker has written to key government officials, including the Premier, NSW Treasurer, Minister for Local Government, Opposition Leader, Shadow Treasurer, and Shadow Minister for Local Government.

“We are urging these officials to promptly address the continued shifting of costs through a mix of regulatory changes, budget adjustments, and appropriate funding” said Mayor Walker.

This proactive action by the Council shows its dedication to advocating for fair and sustainable funding practices that benefit local communities. By collaborating with state leaders and decision-makers, Council aims to ensure that the financial burden on Local Government is handled effectively and fairly.
