Oh what a feeling!

Marsden Weir was home to plenty of action last Thursday, as a large film crew visited Goulburn to film a Toyota advertisement which will be shown in the USA.

We are seeing a real increase in filming permit requests for our region, particularly during autumn each year.

Staff are finding that many production companies return to Goulburn due to our accessibility and great 'country' locations, with their winding roads, heritage architecture and rural vistas.

We've found that many location managers and production companies find out about us through word of mouth from their previous positive experience, as well as the marketing that we do in this space.

Credit also needs to go to our staff within the Visitor Information Centre team who liaise with these companies to assist with traffic control plans, locations for certain shots and liaison with all stakeholders.

Tree Maintenance

Next Wednesday 14th April, Council will be undertaking tree maintenance works in the iconic Belmore Park within the CBD. Some areas of the park will be temporarily blocked off while this is ongoing, so please stay well clear of the work areas.

Next week our teams will also be undertaking tree pruning along Sydney Road, between Union Street and the Highway. This project is scheduled between the hours of 6am and 5pm from Monday 12th April to Friday 16th April as part of our ongoing tree maintenance program. One lane will be closed and traffic control management in place to maintain traffic flow for the duration of the work – please drive with caution.

Youth Week – Goulburn’s Great Race

Riverside Park

Council is pleased to announce we will be holding an official opening of the Riverside Park Playspace on Saturday 1st May at 11am. This is a fantastic new playground, which includes an adventure tower, swings, sculptures and disability inclusive elements.

$200,000 was gained through the NSW Government Everyone can Play grant program for the project, with Council also contributing matched funding to the project. This playground will be a highlight of Riverside Park, which features a dog off-leash area, 3km of footpath, solar lighting and an outdoor gym.

Our opening event on Saturday 1st of May will be a very relaxed one, with a ribbon cutting and unveiling along with a free community BBQ which will be provided by the Goulburn Lions Club. Riverside Park is located at the end of Quiberon Way, Goulburn in Marys Mount.
