The free disposal weekend due to be held on the first weekend in May has been postponed until Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Council has made the decision to postpone the disposal weekend in line with the Federal Government restrictions of large gatherings during the pandemic.

“We know that the timing for postponing the weekend is not ideal, as many people are using the extra time to clean out the home or shed, however it is absolutely necessary in the current climate” said Mayor Bob Kirk.

“In NSW we are still under very tight restrictions, and it is important that we as a community continue to do the right thing in social distancing and only undertaking essential activities. Council needs to play a role, and a disposal weekend that would be classified as a large gathering is simply not possible and non-essential at the moment.”

As of Monday 27th April, all of Council’s Waste Management Centres have resumed normal operating hours. Council will release further information on the waste free weekend later in the year, assuming it can go ahead once restrictions are relaxed.
