Visit the new Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum

The recently completed Rocky Hill War Memorial Museum has finally been opened to the public, following the COVID-19 restrictions that were implemented in March this year.
The doors were opened on Monday 1st June for the first time, with visitors to the museum including residents of Sydney, Junee and Canberra. Council is encouraging local residents to also make the effort to view this spectacular new facility, and the first exhibition which is titled ‘Objects of National Significance: When war trophies came to Goulburn.’
“The new museum is an amazing feat of modern architecture, which has doubled our exhibition space and provided a large open area for programs and events” said Mayor Bob Kirk.
“It is a modern space which will allow us to host touring shows in future, and has also expanded our capacity for our exhibitions and events.”
“It is now open to the public, and I encourage the community to make the trip up Rocky Hill to visit. There are some restrictions on the numbers allowed in at each time, and social distancing must of course be maintained.”
The project was completed in early 2020, with a huge community opening day scheduled for March unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. $1.25m was received from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions Fund for construction, with this being matched with $1.25m of funding from Goulburn Mulwaree Council.
The existing former caretaker’s building has also been renovated to make it a far more usable, modern space.

Twelve guests can visit the new museum at any one time, while the caretaker’s building and the Rocky Hill War Memorial Tower can each accommodate four visitors.
