Working towards future of Council Farm

Goulburn Mulwaree Council continues to solidify the future of the irrigation farm, following Tuesday night’s meeting where it was resolved that a portion of the farm be leased to Goulburn Campdraft Association and Riding for Disabled Goulburn at a minimal lease charge for a period of fifteen years.
The land leased to the two organisations is approximately 64 hectares in size, and is accessed off Taralga Road. Goulburn Campdraft and Riding for the Disabled will be responsible for their own planning applications, and the establishment and operations of their facilities.
Council will also now contact the three submitters who lodged an expression of interest for the public/private partnership for the use of other parts of the irrigation farm.
“It is an exciting milestone in our goal to best utilise the Council irrigation farm. RDA and Campdraft have both been seeking a long-term site for their activities and this will now allow them the opportunity to develop permanent facilities.”
“We will also continue to work toward the subdivision of land at 534 Taralga Road which has been identified within the Urban & Fringe Housing Strategy as future residential land.”
Council also chose to develop a concept for the establishment of an environmental reserve around the ponds area on Gorman Road, and to not proceed with a cemetery on this site.
Submitters who lodged an EOI have been invited to provide updates on their proposals by the 6th October, and to then present their proposals to Council at a briefing on Tuesday 13th October.
Goulburn Campdraft currently hold one, three day event per year, and propose to construct a Campdraft arena, holding yards, a canteen, office, toilets and showers and associated facilities.
Riding for Disabled also propose to construct an undercover sand arena, hay sheds, meeting/eating rooms, an amenities block with disabled access and a car park.
