Structure takes shape at Aquatic Centre

Installation of structural steel and timber purlins is underway at the Goulburn Aquatic & Leisure Centre, with the administration building beginning to take shape.

Alongside this work, watertightness testing is underway in the 25 metre indoor pool, after being successfully completed for the hydrotherapy pool.

“We continue to tick off important milestones regularly at the Goulburn Aquatic Centre redevelopment, and I’m sure residents would be excited to drive past and see the impressive structure now towering over our project fence” said Mayor Bob Kirk.

“Over the coming weeks formwork and reinforcement steel will be completed for the program pool (learn to swim) with this expected to be poured by the end of the month.”

Work on the internal pool deck and splash pad is next on the list, with this also expected to be completed in the next three weeks. Council is now approaching one year since demolition of the indoor pool began in July 2020, with the project still on track for completion in early 2022.

$29 million has been allocated by Council for the project, which is inclusive of a generous $10m grant gained through the NSW Government. FDC Construction are undertaking the project, and have extensive experience building within the Aquatic Centre industry.
