Performing Arts Centre construction to begin

Construction is set to begin on a world-class regional Performing Arts Centre in Goulburn, after Council gave the project the final go ahead at Tuesday night’s Council meeting.

Council accepted the construction price from Zauner Construction for the project, and included the fly tower at an additional cost of around $450,000, which has been added to the project budget, which has now been approved at $18.95m.

As the community is aware there has been a huge amount of work put into this project, and we now approach the exciting stage of construction.

I’m pleased that we have been able to include the fly tower within the PAC, as this was noted by community arts and culture groups as essential for a high quality regional facility. The project is fully funded, with only $6.3m in loan funding at the very low interest rate of 2.5% which is very manageable for Council.

Zauner Constructions hopes to establish the site in October, with a detailed works program set out for 2020. The projected completion date and handover for the Goulburn Performing Arts Centre is in late February 2021.

B2 Zoning Changes Mistful Park

Changes to the B2 Local Centre Zoning in Marulan and Mistful Park were endorsed by Council on Tuesday night, with amendments to the Goulburn Mulwaree LEP 2009 to include rezoning of lots, amendments of floor space restrictions and other associated changes.

Endorsement of the planning proposal will allow developers of the Mistful Park commercial precinct to move forward with plans for a mid-sized supermarket of around 1500m2, associated commercial and retail tenancies, and potentially a petrol station and carwash.

St Clair Villa, 175 years of Goulburn History

Community members are invited to the launch of the book St Clair Villa, 175 Years of Goulburn History by Peter Freeman OAM. The launch is to be held in the Goulburn Mulwaree Library next Wednesday 28th August from 2pm.

It is rare for an Australian dwelling to last more than a century and it is even more of a rarity for a small brick cottage to remain standing one hundred after one hundred and seventy five years.

The book tells the story, in text and image, of the life and times of St Clair Villa in Goulburn by drawing on a vast array of historical sources held in State, National and Local collections dating back to the 1830s.
