Work to begin on Mountain Ash Road

Road construction and upgrade works will begin on Mountain Ash Road next Monday 18th May, and will continue until December this year.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council was successful in securing $1.5 million in grant funding under the NSW Safer Roads Saving Lives on Country Roads program. The project will include extensive widening, pavement rehabilitation and road sealing along with drainage improvements and vegetation clearing where necessary.

I’m pleased to see work will now get underway on Mountain Ash Road, which is a road we have been pushing for funding for. We are very grateful to have secured this funding our region in recent years, and I look forward to the improvements that will be made at Mountain Ash Road.

Traffic management will be in place during these times to ensure that works progress safely, and delays are kept to a minimum. The road will remain open to traffic at all times, but there will be some delays throughout the project along this route between Marian Vale Road and Jerrara Road.

Walking Track closure

A small section of the river walkway will be closed from Friday for at least two weeks while some work is undertaken on our water network.

Access to the walkway will be maintained at all times, however entry will only be available from the east side of Fitzroy Street Bridge.

Work underway at Marys Mount Intersection

I’m pleased to see we are underway with the Crookwell Road and Marys Mount Intersection. Work began this week, and will continue until the end of June when we hope to have the project completed.

Construction works include new kerb and gutter construction, additional footpath construction, new road median crossings, drainage and asphalt works.

The project will be undertaken at a rapid rate to reach milestones, and therefore some road closures are being implemented on Marys Mount Road throughout the work. Traffic from Crookwell Road to Marys Mount will be diverted via Box Avenue and Franklin Street, however access to and from Crookwell will be maintained at all times.

To make sure construction is undertaken as per the strict completion programme the work will run from 7am to 5:30pm from Monday to Saturday, and under some circumstances work will also be undertaken on Sundays.

Council looks forward to delivering the project on time and in a safe manner; the cooperation of residents throughout the construction period is appreciated.
