Work commences on Indoor Pool repairs

Work has commenced on repairs of the indoor pool roof at the Goulburn Aquatic Centre today. Council expects the indoor pool to be reopened in late January, providing no issues arise throughout the repairs.

Two timber roof beams spanning the indoor pool failed in late September following heavy snowfall. This prompted immediate closure of the pool with temporary support struts put in place.

“I’m sure the community is looking forward to having the indoor pool open and available for use again soon. We had a slight delay with delivery of the beams due to the holiday period, but I’m pleased that the facility will be up and running soon, and available for use as the weather cools down over the coming months” said Mayor Bob Kirk.

Repair works were quoted at $157,420, and a claim for this to be covered is being lodged to Council’s insurance company.

At the 1st October 2019 Council Meeting, the General Manager was authorised to take appropriate steps for remedial works at the indoor pool.

ARW Multigroup have been engaged to carry out the repair works, and subject to no unforeseen circumstances being encountered, the indoor pool is expected to be operational by the end of January 2020.
