With construction set to ramp up on the Goulburn Hospital upgrade, Goulburn Mulwaree Council is preparing to implement new parking provisions which will be in place throughout the project.

Signage has begun to be put up this week, and permits will be distributed to households, and staff of the Hospital and Goulburn High School in the coming weeks. The parking permit scheme will come into effect from 14th October, however no fines will be issued throughout an introductory period from 14th October until 14th November.

“This period will allow residents, businesses and staff and the general community to get used to the new zones without fines being issues” said Mayor Bob Kirk.

“Construction of the $150m Hospital redevelopment will be a major multi-year project, and our priority is to ensure residents, staff and people visiting the hospital are able to park and access the facility safely and conveniently throughout this process.”

Parking permits are being issued to residents, businesses and staff in the vicinity of Goulburn Base Hospital to avoid infringement notices being issued to relevant vehicles. Passes will be given to Goulburn Base Hospital and Goulburn High School to be distributed to the staff, however residents of the area need to email council@goulburn.nsw.gov.au or come into Council at 184 Bourke Street to register their vehicles for permits.

The permit allows you to park within designated zones for longer than the signposted time limit. It does not allow you to park in other parking restricted zones such as “No Stopping,” “No Parking,” “Bus,” “Loading,” or “Disabled Parking.”

Permits must be placed on the passenger side of the front windscreen and be clearly visible. If you have further questions please contact Council on 4823 4444.

Construction contractor Hansen Yunken will be sending further correspondence with details on the construction program to residents and affected businesses.
