A dangerous section of the Middle Arm Road has been significantly improved, after funding was gained through the Federal Government Blackspot Program. $480,000 was gained for the project, with the work commencing in March and now nearing completion.

The project included nearly three kilometres of shoulder widening, establishment of a guard rail, installation of speed advisory signs and strip sealing on edges.

Mayor Bob Kirk thanked the Federal Government for the support of the project.

“The Blackspot Program is a very important one for regional areas like Goulburn Mulwaree, as decisions are based on the raw crash data. This means the money goes to where it is needed, which is clear with the Middle Arm Road works now completed. “

“The shoulder widening has been able to be undertaken on a significant stretch of road, and all users of Middle Arm Road I’m sure would appreciate improved safety outcomes.”

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said he was pleased to see this dangerous section of road improved.

“Community input is always critical in identifying these blackspots; Council have taken this feedback on board and thanks to funding from the Federal Government this section of road is now much safer for vehicles.”

Two serious crashes occurred on this stretch of Middle Arm Road in 2016, which was the basis of this grant funding application.
