The development application for the Goulburn Aquatic Centre has been approved by the Joint Regional Planning Panel.

$29m has been allocated by Council for stage one of the redevelopment, which includes refurbishment of the existing indoor 25m pool, an additional 10 lane 25m indoor pool, a hydrotherapy pool, outdoor water play area, café, new change rooms and amenities and car parking and landscaping upgrades.

Mayor Bob Kirk welcomed approval of what is an important project for Goulburn and the wider region.

“This is a great result, which allows us to move forward with this wonderful project for our region. Council will now commence the procurement process for construction, using an expression of interest phase to select tenderers.

“Council is hopeful of awarding the tender for construction before the end of 2019, allowing us to begin construction next year!”

The NSW Government has allocated $10m towards the project, which the Goulburn Mulwaree Council and wider community are very grateful for.

Wendy Tuckerman, NSW Member for Goulburn said: “I’m delighted the project is moving forward and real works can get underway. This is a wonderful project that will be of great benefit to Goulburn and the wider region. “

Council will now be lodging a modification to ensure that stage one of the Redevelopment Project aligns with the final consent that has been granted.

Expressions of interest for construction of stage one of the Goulburn Aquatic Centre Redevelopment are expected to be called in the coming months.
