Local Government Elections 2021
Goulburn Mulwaree Council will be holding elections on Saturday 4th September 2021 for the elections of councillors.
Voting is compulsory at all NSW local government elections. The NSW Electoral Commissioner has been engaged to administer the elections.
Lodgement of nominations for those who wish to run for council will open on Monday 26th July 2021. Nominations will close on Wednesday 4th August 2021.
Pre-election Candidate Sessions 2021
On Saturday, 4 September 2021 Local Government Elections will take place across NSW.
In preparation for this Yass Valley, Upper Lachlan Shire and Goulburn Mulwaree Councils have joined together to conduct three pre-election candidate sessions to assist members of the public who may be interested in running for Council in their area.
The session running in Goulburn Mulwaree will be held:
Wednesday 7 July @ 6:00pm - Goulburn Mulwaree Council, 184 Bourke St, Goulburn, NSW
SUMMARY OF THE SESSION
The information evening is for anyone who is
- interested in becoming a Councillor
- seeking an understanding of the role and responsibilities of an elected member
These informative sessions will be about what it is like to be a councillor, including:
- The Integrated Planning & Reporting system
- Council meeting procedures and the rules of debate
- Relationships between Councillors and staff
- Conflicts of interest (Pecuniary, Non-pecuniary & Lobbying)
- Expenses and Allowances
- Access to key staff
You will also receive an information pack containing information to help you decide whether running for council is for you.
