2022 Australia Day activities will commence in Victoria Park starting at 7.30am with a free breakfast for the first 500 people as well as a junior cricket match taking place on Seiffert Oval. This year the official ceremony, water activities, entertainment, food, rides, markets and more will take place at The Goulburn Historic Waterworks from 9.00am.

Holding the event at the Goulburn Historic Waterworks, situated on the Wollondilly River will enable a wide range of water activities including stand up paddle boards, kayaks and pedal boats. Shuttle buses will run from Victoria Park to the Goulburn Historic Waterworks between 9.00am to 2.00pm.

This year Goulburn’s Australia Day will include a Traditional Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country in First Nations language to begin the official ceremony. The event will also include an Indigenous Art and Culture Expo which will be managed and run by a member of the Aboriginal Community. This will be undertaken through dedicated market stalls at the Historic Water Works Museum site.

The official ceremony commences at approximately 10am where Australia Day awards are presented to our community members who have been chosen as winners for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year, as well as any special achievement awards. The presentations conclude with the first Australian Citizenship Ceremony for the year and a live performance of the national anthem. After the conclusion of the official ceremony live music will include Leaving Reality and the Hume Conservatorium Scholarship holders.

The water activities will run from 9.00am to 5.00pm and the day will conclude with a free barbeque starting at 3pm. Water activities will be conducted by fully qualified coaches who will provide all equipment and instruction. The activities include pedal boats (Pirate Pedalo’s) with water blasters, Team SUP (8 person stand up paddle boards), individual SUPs, individual and triple kayaks and a giant pontoon for pool noodle jousting. The Goulburn Aquatic Centre will also be open with free entry on Australia Day from 9am to 5.45pm. The Aquarun inflatable will be operational from 11am to 2.30pm. Participants will be required to pass a 15m swim test to participate and abide by lifeguard instructions.
