Roads

There are over 1065.3km of road in the local area and Council's objective for the roads is to provide a safe, efficient and well-maintained network of roads and road related facilities.

These local roads consist of:

     - 205.8 km urban

     - 531.3 km    non-urban sealed

     - 366.6 km non-urban unsealed

There are also:

     - 57 bridges constructed of concrete/steel     

     - 15 bridges constructed of timber

In addition to these local roads, Council also carried out maintenance on the Regional Roads (which are funded by the RTA).

Length: 43.72 km sealed

10 concrete/steel bridges.

On the roads, Council carries out the routine activites of road maintenance, linemarking, signposting.  Council constructs and maintains footpaths, bus seats, bus shelters and bridges.

Capital works on the road network are prioritised on a needs basis and are listed in the following forward plans.

     - Road pavement rehabilitation

     - Sealing gravel roads

     - New kerb and gutter

     - New Footpath 

     - Bus shelters
