Raw Water Storage

Last modified: November 9, 2009 - 10:45 PM

The Goulburn Mulwaree Council has three water storages which supply water to Goulburn for residential, commercial and industrial use.

The water storages include Pejar Dam located on the Wollondilly River, Sooley Dam located on Bumana Creek and Rossi Weir located further downstream on the Wollondilly River. Pejar Dam is the largest of these storages with a capacity of 9000 megalitres, whilst Sooley Dam and Rossi Weir have capacities of 4140 and 330 megalitres respectively. The general operating procedure for Goulburn's water supply is as follows: - water is drawn from Rossi Weir and pumped to the Water Filtration Plant - the water volume in Rossi Weir is maintained from Sooley Dam - Pejar Dam is used to supply water to Rossi Weir when Sooley Dam cannot meet the supply requirements due to inadequate capacity or poor water quality.
