Home Based/Small Business Information

Home-based businesses are an important part of the region’s business community - on average, there's a business in 1 of every 6 houses.  According to the 2006 Census, 457 people worked at home in the Goulburn Mulwaree Local Government Area.  There are many advantages to establishing your business at home, however there are some things to consider, and the links below provide a variety of helpful information and resources.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council Regulatory Information - A home-based business is one that is “carried out in a dwelling or in a building ancillary to a dwelling by one or more permanent residents of that dwelling”, and there are many possibilities – from home book-keeping to mechanical repairs – for which vastly different regulations would apply.  For this reason, it is highly recommended that you contact GMC Councils Development Control Staff on 4823 4509 to make an appointment to discuss the specifics of your business. Or email your question to Council’s Development Control Department council@goulburn.nsw.gov.au.
