Scholarships available for local artists - 03 Jul 2008

Two Scholarships are now available to help emerging local artists with their works.

The Mulwaree Trust announced an Arts Scholarship Program for the next three years. Goulburn Mulwaree Council is to administer the program on behalf of the Trust.

Outreach meetings cancelled - 26 Jun 2008

The Parkesbourne Community Outreach Meeting scheduled for Tuesday 8 July 2008 and the Towrang Community Outreach Meeting scheduled for Tuesday 12 August 2008 have been cancelled.

Goulburn Mulwaree Council's General Manager Luke Johnson said the meetings were cancelled due to the pending Local Government elections.

Police Rescue learn the ropes about Pejar’s tower - 20 Jun 2008
Pejar Dam’s tower was the site of a joint Police Rescue and Goulburn Mulwaree Council training exercise on Tuesday morning.

Five members of the Goulburn Police Rescue Squad, along with Council’s relevant staff and OH&S supervisor, took part in the exercise on Tuesday morning, which involved a scenario where one of Council’s onsite employees fell to the bottom of the Pejar Dam tower.

Councillors honoured for service - 06 Jun 2008

Two of Goulburn Mulwaree’s Councillors, with almost 50 years experience between them, have been recognised for their service to their communities.

Councillors Margaret O’Neill and Maureen Eddy have both been awarded the Outstanding Service Award by the Local Government and Shires Associations of NSW for their dedication to the Goulburn Mulwaree areas.

National Sorry Day - 28 May 2008

More than 200 people gathered in Belmore Park, Goulburn, on Monday 26 May for National Sorry Day.

Sorry Day commemorates the history of forcible removals and its effect on Australia’s Indigenous populations. It is acknowledged in communities across Australia on 26 May each year.

Mayor of Goulburn Mulwaree Paul Stephenson was MC for the function and the crowd heard from Pejar Local Aboriginal Land Council Chairman Alfie Walker, Goulburn Mulwaree Deputy Mayor Ken Sullivan and Goulburn Young Citizen of the Year Elizabeth Cooper. The Wiradjuri Echo's undertook a Smoking Cermony and demonstration of Aboriginal dance.

Results of second customer survey released - 21 May 2008

Goulburn Mulwaree residents are more satisfied with the performance of their Council than they were two years ago, according to a community survey undertaken this year.

The survey was completed by the Illawarra Regional Information Service (IRIS), which is associated with the University of Wollongong.

Draft 2008/2009 Management Plan - 09 May 2008
Council's Draft 2008/2009 Management Plan was endorsed at a Special Council Meeting on Thursday 8 May 2008. It will be placed on exhibition for public comment from Wednesday 14 May until Tuesday 10 June 2008.

Indoor pool renovations extended - 29 Apr 2008
Due to the need for more extensive repairs than first expected, the indoor pool at Goulburn Aquatic Centre will be closed for at least another two weeks (until around 13 May).

Goulburn Mulwaree Council’s Executive Manager Engineering Terry Cooper apologised for the inconvenience and explained that the extent of the repairs was not completely known before work commenced. more ..
