Volunteering

 

 

Volunteers are an integral part of Goulburn Mulwaree Council.  We greatly appreciate and value the contribution they make to the Goulburn Mulwaree community.

All volunteers are required to attend an induction session. These sessions provide an overview of Council's policies and procedures that apply to volunteers.

Below is a brief description of volunteer positions within Goulburn Mulwaree Council.  Please contact the relevant person for more information.

The Goulburn City of Roses Committee

The Goulburn City of Roses Committee meet on the 1st Thursday of every month.  Their primary role is to assist Council in providing critical advice and hands on delivery of maintenance and management of the City's public rose gardens.  They also responsibly promote Goulburn as the "Rose City" and manage the annual Rose Festival, held at the Goulburn Soldiers Club in March of each year.

To achieve their goals, members of the Rose Committee actively participate in:

  • Rose garden maintenance such as pruning, weeding, planting;
  • Fundraising to implement infrastructure items;
  • Marketing to promote their events and ongoing presence in the community.

Art Gallery

GRAG welcomes Volunteers to assist with general administrative duties, guiding visitors, opening events etc.  OH&S Training is provided.

McDermott Centre

Neighbour Aid Volunteers provide friendly home visits assisted shopping and appointments as well as 1:1 social outings and group lunches weekly.

Leisure Link Volunteers assist groups of younger people with a disability on weekend outings and activities like fishing camping  or just local outings like going to the movies and having lunch in a group of peers

Community transport volunteers drive people to out of town specialist medical appointments out of town and drive the busses to some rural areas to transport people to town for shopping

Respite Care volunteers assist in centre based care at the McDermott Centre and at the Brewer Centre in Marulan,  they provide meals and entertainment in the centre.

Goulburn Mulwaree Library - Home Library Service Volunteer

The delivery of library materials to registered housebound borrowers within the Goulburn City area who due to illness, disability or limited mobility are unable to access the library in person.

Tasks: Deliver library material and return previously delivered material (Some readers may have visits from home nurses or need to visit hospital for physiotherapy etc., if no one is at home you will be provided with delivery details).  Readers are able to keep items they have not yet read.

Liaise with the HLS Co-ordinator regarding questions or problems with the service..

Ttime: Thursday between 12pm and 3pm for approximately for 1 or 2 hours (can be alternate Thursdays if preferred).

Requirements: Must have own car.

Museums - Goulburn Historic Waterworks and Goulburn War Memorial

 

Duties include: Gardening, maintenance, tour guide, research, café operation, light cleaning.

Volunteers are welcome to attend regular meetings, workshops and an annual day out.
