Fire and Emergency Services Levy - It isnt new. It's just fairer
The NSW Government is introducing a fairer system for collecting the levy that helps fund our community’s fire and emergency services.
The Emergency Services Levy (ESL) on insurance policies will be abolished and replaced with a Fire and Emergency Services Levy (FESL) paid alongside council rates
The reform will be a fairer way of raising the money that supports our fire and emergency services and volunteers. Previously only insured property owners contributed directly to the fire and emergency services. Under the FESL, all property owners will contribute
The reform will bring NSW into line with other mainland states and will help reduce the high levels of underinsurance across the State.
For more information, please visit the Fire and Emergency Services Levy website - http://fesl.nsw.gov.au/ or phone the Fire and Emergency Services Levy hotline on 1300787 872
